Indoor Activities for the Fall Months

Yellow Fall Leaves in a pile

Now that we’ve finally made it to September and the temperatures are starting to dip, we’re just about to leave Summer and go into Fall. Although it doesn’t officially start until September 22nd, it feels like fall after a long summer of 100 degree days. The transition from Summer to Fall means less time outdoors, and more activities that take place inside. Sometimes it can be difficult to come up with ideas of what to do, so we’ve come up with a few of our favorite (indoor) activities for Fall. Check it out!

Puzzles

Something that everyone can take part in is a good puzzle. This is the perfect indoor activity for Fall because it will take a while to complete, so it will entertain you for a long time. Not only this, but puzzles also challenge your brain and can help your mind stay sharp. Puzzles are a very cheap activity and can be completed multiple times without getting sick of them. It will be a challenge every time you try it because even though you remember the picture, you will never remember which pieces go where!

Cooking

With Fall comes a lot of festive cooking. There are a lot of dishes that just feel like they go along with Fall, which includes pretty much everything that has pumpkin in the title of the recipe. Cooking is the perfect indoor activity for seniors. It provides something for you to do, and even if you don’t want to eat it yourself it’s a great gift for your children and their kids. If you’re unsure of what to cook, there are plenty of great recipes online for Fall foods, whether it’s deserts, dinners, snacks, or breakfasts.

Decorate

Festive decorations are a big part of the fun in Fall. It just feels right to have your home decorated with pumpkins, pomegranates, and other deep colored decorations in the Fall. If you’re looking for more activities than just decorating, you can also make the decorations. Decorating can be a great way to make your Assisted Living apartment feel more like home as well. The more comfortable you make your apartment for yourself, the better you’ll feel about staying in during these colder months.
